   I've been thinking about buying the new halo 3 zune. I wanted to know if the zunes were any good. I've had a ipod and it was a big waste of money.

     Zune is excellent. I had an iPod video and I find Zune to be much better and more practical. I never used the stopwatch. Never used the Address book. Stupid things that just took up space. The Zune is much better with radio, a bigger screen, wi-fi, and customizable backgrounds.

     I would suggest getting a regular Zune, though. Unless you are a die-hard fan of the Halo series, it will become very 'dated'

4. QUESTION:
   How does wirelessly sending songs between Zunes work?
   My friend has a Zune and I'm buying a Zune tomorrow. How does the wireless transfer of songs between Zunes work? If he transfers a song to me, will I be able to keep it forever or just listen to it once or what?

     well your zune will search for other zunes, the wireless on both must be turned on. you can send a song to the other, but i think it is limited to 3 plays/3 days.

5. QUESTION:
   How do you transfer songs from itunes to zunes?
   I'm thinking about getting a zune, but I'm not sure how I will transfer all my songs from itunes to the zune software. Also, are zunes better than ipods in your opinion?

   • ANSWER:
     The iPod and Zune can be akin to a cat and dog. Neither one really like each other.

     To answer your question, if you've got music you bought off iTunes Music Store, then you can't transfer those to your Zune. It does not support the format iTunes uses, the software cannot interconnect. The two devices are "mortal enemies"

     If you've got music you copied off your own CD's or are in mp3 format, you can simply re-import them from your hard drive into the software the Zune uses.

     I've never really used either. I own an iPod but I bought it for hardware only. I'm running an entirely different operating system on it.

   How can I use two zunes on the same computer // software?
   Alright, I just got a zune about a week ago, and connected it, and got the software running and everything to my computer.

   My friend just got a zune over the weekend, and bought a zune pass subscription and set up his to his computer.

   I want to permanently use his library, and Im wondering How I can get both of our zunes working.. right now his computer wont recognize mine..

   I know this is possible, i just need some help.

     I have two zunes connected to my home computer and I installed the second one with no problems. My wife and I share one library just as you describe.

     You have to use the installation disk just like you hooked yours up the first time, but on his computer this time. Jump through all the hoops and there will be two devices (with their nicknames and all) in the left hand menu within the Zune program.

     Then just click on the one that you wish to work with. All music should synchronize automatically.

     You may have to remove the Zune program from your computer first (my understanding is that a Zune device will only sync to one computer), otherwise it may wipe out all the files from your Zune Device.

   Why are Ipods so much more popular than Zunes?
   I've examined both and it seems to me that Zunes are superior for the money.
   Well, what I'm talking about is 120 gigs for 220 bucks, Also now in High Def.

     it is all about marketing...steve jobs and apple have done a GREAT job brainwashing people into thinking the ipod is the best media player on the market (when it was more expensive than most, had worse sound quality and lacked an FM tuner like most had)...this was the case even before the touch and the app store were available. they use celebs, flashy colors, and cool music to advertise...and microsoft....well, doesn't do anything.
     that is my thought for why ipods are the more popular media player...they became the "cool" thing to have...so everyone wants one. I admit, I was a Sheep for a while ...then i saw the light when my GRANDMA pulled out the exact same MP3 player i had...keep in mind she is 76 years old. i have been apple free for over a year and my life is already better

    Why do people say ipods are better than zunes?
    I don't get it. Zunes have more features, you can trade music, pics, and videos, it holds more memory, and it's cheaper. So why do most people say that ipods are better?

      Strictly their own opinion.
      People tend to go for what they are familiar with, and if thats an iPod, so be it.
      Zune is rather new, and not many people have it.
      Once word gets out a bit about the Zune, i'm sure more people would prefer it to an iPod.

    Does anybody agree that the crashing of Zunes is a sign that Microsoft cannot compete against the iPod?
    The crashing of zunes on New Years is another sign that Microsoft fails attempting to compete against Apple's iPod.

      yes, Zunes aren't nearly as cool or useful as ipods, although they do have built in radio...but ipods have disk use, and are easy to get the music and movies off of it from someone else. they look better too.

    Does anybody know where I can get Zunes fixed in the Philippines?
    I know there aren't any official service centers in the Philippines yet but I want to know if there are places where I can get Zunes fixed/diagnosed. Doesn't have to be official service centers. Just curious for people who are willing to take the risk and kill their Zunes

      I pressume that's some gadgets young kids love...there's always an SM or Robinson somewhere. Unless there's some trusted savvy Filipinos with you, don't go to discount places.

    what is the difference between 1st and second generation zunes?
    i read somewhere that theres an update for the first generation zune is this true? what are the differences?

      yeah thats probably true. The update is for the firmware in the device which is the software that makes your devices electrons work together to deliver your music to your face! lol, you should update that firmware because it could make your device do more, and play your music even better than it did before. update that sob, and i dont know the difference, i own a iphone ;-p

    Do wireless headphones work with Zunes & can I take them out of the house?
    I want to go to the gym with my wireless headphones, but I've seen some wireless headphones saying that you can only go around 35 feet. Is this talking about from the base of the headphones or from the mp3 player? Also, do the headphones have to have bluetooth?

    Whats the difference between 30 and 80 gig zunes?
    YEAH Besides the Gig size, is there anything else that makes them differ? I dont know which to get. It seems like a DUH question but sure 80g is bigger but is it different in any other way?

    How long do zunes take to charge?
    I have been charging my zune for about two hours now, in the beggening it only showed the battery symbol when i turned it on then it turned off and now its loading the zune thing but then it stops and turns off. How long do they take to charge usually?

    This New Years' Eve glitch where thousands of Zunes are spontaneously freezing seems pretty suspicious...very Y2K like. Perhaps Microsoft is finally doing what they were created to do. Any thoughts?

    Where is a good place to buy used/cheap zunes?
    I recently had one for over a year until it was stolen from my car. I like them more than ipods, and I already have the software, a zune player, and zune wall charger so I would like another one, but with classes to pay for I am on a tight budget. Any suggestions on where to find a cheap one?

    Are Zunes really as poor a product as they seem?

    I've used iTunes for some time and the ease of use is amazing. One of my children wanted a Zune and it's been nothing but a nightmare from day one. It's a flat out bear to use and I feel so ripped off.

      No the ipod and itunes is horrible compared to the ease of use of almost all other mp3 players. its just another one of apples clever marketing tactics thats made it so popular. the zune is great, i want to sell my ipod and get one. anyone need a 80 gb video ipod with many other items for it as well?? its on craigslist central jersey. I cant seem to give this thing away.

      you can use a range of software to get music umm limewire yeah lime wire sucks torrents are better download bitlord, u torrent kinda thing the look online like google "ur favorite band" torrent or discography if you want all the songs by that artist good sites the pirate bay, sumo torrent there are alot more site you can use. when downloading torrents make sure it has high seeders or it will never finish, or you can download a youtube to mp3 converter and download videos off of youtube some say sound quality isnt that good but personally i dont notice or there is the google hack i think it was intitle:"index of(band here)" you can upload any mp3 format on to a zune using the zune software as long as its not a protected file downloading anything isnt always safe but if you get avg free when using google it should tell you if the site is a reported attack site or not

    How much do used zunes go for?
    i want to sell my zune; i dont like it very much all the acessories for are expensive and i cant fit it in my pocket while running or anything; plus i would like something much smaller so its easier to hide ;]

25. QUESTION:
    After the new Zune comes out, will they still sell old Zunes?
    It seems like they aren't selling Zune's anymore. If I go into a store they don't have them. And all accessories are 50% off right now. It seems like they're getting rid of all the old stuff and starting new. Are they still going to make the old stuff, like the normal Zunes and not the HD Zunes or are they just making Zune HD's now?

    Did that make sense?

      they are discontinuing the current models and replaceing them with the zune HD.....but they still have invintory. my local stores (Best buy, Walmart, Target) all have at least a few of every size zune out there. you can also get them from the microsoft store. but you should get them ASAP as i have a feeling they will sell quickly after their price drop.

    Is it possible to put Limewire songs into the old Zunes?
    My friend told me you can only put songs that are bought from the Zune store. Is that real?

      yep im doing it right now ...downlod it and it should automactically go to ur library if not go to ur music files right click go to properties..and change the program u want it to open with and pick zune

    Do the 8GB zunes come bundled with zune marketplace gift cards?
    I have seen 4GB zunes bundled with zune marketplace gift cards at online sites such as the source.ca, but i can't seem to find them available with the 8GB model. Are their any available with the 8GB and if so, where are they sold and how much are they?
    Maybe a better question is are the gift cards with the 4GB a non-microsoft bundle, but just a specail package at The Source?

      Small zunes are discontinued cause of Zune HD,
      so you might see a price drop. IDK about the gift cards

    How long will the red zunes be out?
    I'm in LOVE with the new red zune but I'm saveing money for it and it might take me awhile. Will the red zune still be there when I'm done???

      It is a limited edition, but I'm thinking they'll be around through 'til early next year to take advantage of the Christmas rush. Hopefully they'll have other models available then too....

    How long do zunes usually last?
    I just got a Zune 2 and my friend told me they dont last long. Now im wondering if its true or if shes just saying that because she has an ipod. So my questions are:
    How long do they last? Do they just freeze out of nowhere and dont work anymore? Are they really fragile and break easily?

    • ANSWER:
      Assuming it doesn't suffer something unusual like being stepped on or dunked in liquid, the typical problems involve either the battery (typical life: 2 - 3 years) or the hard drive, if you have the Zune 30 or 80GB models.

      The hard drives are somewhat sensitive to jarring and will sometimes stop working if banged around or dropped too many times.

      The smaller 4 and 8GB models are flash memory designs which are not sensitive to shock.

      Most likely, the battery will start to not hold a charge around the 2 year point, but it can be replaced (has to be done by a repair shop).

      Ipods will have the same reliability issues; they use many of the same parts and batteries.

      Just the Zune Marketplace and thats it, love it or hate it. Microsoft is trying to get the ipod vibe of proprietary music stores. If this bugs you, i'd suggest getting mp3 players by creative and sandisk. They have more options!

      Apple I-pod touch is great i got the 8GB you can also learn how to jailbreak it that means hacking it with a program and get free Apps and etc... its quite similar to the zune in the beginning its confusing on how to sync music to your library and then to your ipod i suggest you register it for the warranty online then contact customer support for more on how to sync and get apps using WIFI or the itunes app store hope this helps and get a cover or case for it please do it will scratch in the back very easy

      Cost depends on where you buy it from. Amazon sells MP3s for less than 99c (depends on the song).
      Transfering songs depends on whether your ipod songs are DRM-free or not. If they are DRM free, no issues. If there is DRM, first you need to "free" them. It takes more work, but it is doable.

    Why are Zunes nowhere on the market anymore?
    I've wanted to buy a Zune 80gb for a while now, but i'm starting to realize they aren't sold anywhere! besides used first generation ones on ebay and such, but why is this, and will it ever change?

      Yep, the previous answers are correct. They are dying out now that the iPod and Apple "own the market". Trust me, you are way better off with an iPod than a Zune. You might pay less for a Zune but the usual rule applies, The less you pay, the less you get. Zunes didn't even make it New Zealand or Australia, there just not big enough.

      Compress the file, it should decrease the amount of Hard Drive space taken up.

      As far as I know you can't sync them to each other but can send songs and pictures to other Zunes that are in range.

    I just got a new zune and its easy to use and easy to put music on but for some reson when I try to drag and video it won't work.

      You may need to convert the format that it's in. Find out what format its in(video) and if your Zune supports that format and if it can convert the format.

    Is it possible to put 2 Zunes on the same "collection" of music and if so how?
    I returned my first Zune cus of bad pixels so I got a new one in return and I dont know how to hook the new one.

    Do I need to erase everything and re-download it or remove my previous Zune from the settings or what?

    • ANSWER:
      You'll be fine having two Zunes connected to the same collection. Just run through the setup like you did for the returned device.

      If you want the software to forget your old one, go to settings > device > sync options. Then just click on "Forget this device".

    why is the zune nowhere in popular stores? does anyone know stores in toronto to buy zunes?
    i was saving up money to buy a zune. but when i finally got the money, stores everywhere stopped selling them. i live in the GTA in ontario and want to know stores where zunes are in stock

      Walmart, bestbuy... They sell Zunes If your talking about a Zune 2g well they quit making them and now only make the Zune hd... You can get them on Http://www.zune.net just the 80gb original. but you can buy the hd also...

      for Ipods just put usb or cable with computer while you using pc. Because i don't hve a chager and that is more esy for me.
