   Zune 2 vs. Ipod Classic 6th Gen. in sound quality?
   I don't favor Microsoft or Apple. I only care about music and capacity. I've heard many people return their 160gb 6th generation Ipods due to poor sound quality. I have to believe some have grabbed the Zune 2 in exchange. As a producer and music lover. I strive on clarity on a level of high's, mids, and lows in harmony. Therefore, before I spend my hard earned 0 dollars. I need to know the answer to the question most people are asking. Which is better in SOUND QUALITY? Zune 2 80gb or ipod classic 160gb. This question is only for the people that have owned both. Share experiences with pros and cons. Points to details.

     Truly they will both give u the same sound quality.... It really depends on the bit rate of the song. Most songs on Itunes are at 128kps, which is about CD quality, and im not sure the bit rate for music on the Zune, but if its the same bit rate, they will both produce the same sound quality....

   Ipod vs Zune HD? which one better in terms of sound quality?
   I'm looking for an mp3 player that really focuses on its meaning of being an mp3 player. Good sound, i want to be able to use the best headphones and not let the hardware of my mp3 player limit the quality of my music. I'm not that big on games, the ipod is loaded with apps, but i'd personally prefer the ipad for its bigger screen if i were to focus on apps. I also want to be able to plug my mp3 player into my computer, add music and go. I don't like having to wait for anything, i like the kind of mp3 where i can drag and drop music files. That way i can use my other computers and take files from that other computer too. My only concern for the Zune is that i feel that it may not be supported for very long by the company, which isn't much of a concern because in the end i just want something to play good quality music. Which mp3 player would be better? or if another company such as Sony has an mp3 player to match my needs, please tell me

     I feel that the iPod is a better choice. Microsoft is probably not going to make any more Zunes, where as Apple is constantly updating their product lines. iTunes makes dragging and dropping songs very easy. I currently have a 5th gen iPod nano and I love it.

     Also, the quality of the music does not really depend on the player, more on the headphones you use. The headphones that come with the player have average sound quality. If you want superb, you will have to buy higher-quality headphones.

     Buy some Sony earbuds for the Touch and you will be extremely pleased with the sounds.

   for christmas, i am considering either getting a new ipod nano or a 30gb zune.

     Dont get a zune. As BOTH a zune AND ipod owner, I have experience with both

     1. Battery Life
     -Microsoft promised 30 hours audio only w/ wi-fi off. Cnet.com published results that attained 22 hours, roughly half that of an ipod classic 80 gb. I have actually tested this and I can say that cnet.com is correct

     2. Got rid of the equalizer
     -The zune 30 had a music equalizer and im pissed that microsoft got rid of it. Without a equalizer, your songs wont sound as good

     3. Microsft (ms) points
     -79 ms points=99 cents for a song. Thats confusing

     4. Online store availability
     -No movies or tv shows. Song selection half that of itunes. This is more important than you think

     5. Exclusive online store
     - Can't use other music services like napster, yahoo, rhapsody, etc. The thing that pisses me off is that these services are MICROSOFT BACKED!

     6. Hard Drive
     -Can't be used as an external hard-drive (complaint in the 1st generation, Microsoft didn't address this problem). Almost EVERY mp3 player has this feature

     7. No clock
     -This is more important than you think (Same as above)

     8. No games
     - This isn't really important, but the ipod has the upper hand on this one

     9. Screen Resolution
     - Its the same as the ipod's, but with the zune's bigger screen, anything visual on the screen will look noticebaly "fuzzy"

     10. Software Updates
     - Microsoft doesn't update their media player software as frequently as apple. So if something buggy goes on, you may be in the dark for months if it cannot be fixed

     11. Cross- Platform Compatibility
     - One of the reasons why the ipod is a seemingly invincible juggernaut is because it works with BOTH mac and pc. If you have a mac, you CANT use a zune

     12. Wireless Sharing
     - Can only share a song for 3 plays and then its gone

     13. Accessories
     -You will have a harder time finding accessories (cases, chargers, etc.)

     14. Software
     -It looks cooler than itunes, but it doesn't organize music as well. Thats my opinion, tho. Song ratings, editing info, and reliability were terrible for me.

   I have an original 30GB Zune. I actually love it, the sound is great and the navigation is easy.

   I also have an iPhone and love that too. I have noticed the Zune seems to have better sound quality.

   Yes, the iPod is the ruler. And Zune will never catch up, in my opinion. But I do like my Zune, that is why I keep it around even now that I have an iPhone. The Zune serves well on long trips, the battery last longer than the iPhone. However, the iPhone can do so much more, thus sucking the battery life.

     I own an 8gb zune, and I love it.
     First thing i thought when i began using it, was the same as you: it has good sound qualiity, and it's easy to navigate. i also liked the software because it was simple, and easy to use.
     my brother got an 8gb iPod (not sure what its called, but it was a square one) around the same time. I used it for a while, and i didnt like the osund as much, and i was kind of confused with the menu button. i found it hard to navigate after using my zune. also, the iTunes software really sucked.
     so, when it comes down to it, i prefer my zune over the iPod. Every single friend of mine who owns an iPod, and has seen my Zune says that they should have gotten a zune instead of the iPod.

     Ive seen both, both are very good, and sound quality is negligible. Quality is the same as they use similar decoders and codecs for video. If you want better sound quality, better ear pieces will make all the difference in the world on either machine.

     on the contrary....music file sound totally different on my zune HD than they do on my touch...the zune HD is very detailed and crisp, while the touch seems very washed out and heavy on the bass and treble.

     itunes music is coded at 256kbps, zune music is encoded at 320kbps, so zune music has the edge right there.

     if you are a music lover, get the HD....the touch will disappoint you greatly if you get it for mainly music. the HD lets you find new artists quickly and easily, plus /month gets you UNLIMITED music downloads.

     and the zune has some good apps, you just have to get them from 3rd parties....just some notable games are labrynth, project gotham racing, audiosurf tilt, a tetris clone, a game boy emulator, DOOM, bunch of card games, chopper, reversi, minsweeper, and beanstalk tale (really great and adicting 3rd party app)

      Of course the zune is gunna get more apps, it only has so few cuz it came out just last month. The zune has much better screen quality, sound quality is mostly the same (theres really no way you could tell a difference without some kind of robotic aid), and the zune is smaller. The zune also comes with HD radio that doesn't require you to be in a wifi hotspot like the ipod does. iPod has a moderately faster web browser, and comes with a speaker on the device unlike the zune which requires headphones. Basically, it depends on what you think looks better, and which company you support more: Microsoft=Zune, Apple=iPod. People usually say that the zune is overall (other than fewer apps, a slightly slower web browser, and the lack of a speaker) better device than the iPod.

      (I dont really want an ipod cuz EVERYONE AT MY SCHOOL HAS ONE!!!!!)

    So here's a poll on which of these has the better strength in music quality. I have both a Zune HD and an ipod touch 3G. My friend who is an Apple fanboy thinks that ipods are #2 in music quality, I was like hell no. Because I downloaded the same files for both players and the Zune plays music way better.       If you care about Apps, iPod Touch.

      If not Zune HD
      *Cheaper
      *Sound quality is better. I compared them and heard the difference.
      *Zune Pass. Unlimited music for a month, you only get to keep 10 a month though if you cancel

      The Zune and the iPod are very similar in comparison, in my personal opinion I have an iPod but my cousin has a Zune and the Zune is WAY better. The sound quality is better but I think the handling or the way you control a Zune is alot easier. I don't know exactly on moving all your iTunes songs to your Zune..but I know just much as people with iPods need iTunes...people with Zune need the Zune program..

      Zune HD is the better music player. The audio quality from Zune's have always been superior to all versions of the iPod.

      The iPod Touch is an apps device primarily. If you want to play a bunch of games, have a bunch of apps: get an iPod Touch

    I have to choose a mp3 player because my iPod nano 3rd gen battery died. I like the Zune HD because of its UI and its sound quality.     Zune HD mp3 320kb vs Ipod Touch 4G Apple Losless?
    What sounds better using the same earphones? Or generally which one has better quality?

    • ANSWER:
      In terms of audio quality, a Mp3 encoded at a bit rate of 320kbps will sound 1 to 1 with a CD to human ears. That's not to say that the CD doesn't sound better then the 320kbps Mp3 though, because the CD does in fact sound better. It's just that are hearing is not good enough to pick out the superior CD sound. The Zune HD is well known to have better audio quality then the i Pods, due to it's superior audio chipset. So even if the i Pod is using the Aiff lossless format which is the same as Wav for the PC, it is not going to sound as good as the 320kbps Zune HD. But don't for get that the Zune does support a wider range of audio formats then the i Pods. The Zune HD will play back Wma, Wma pro, Wma lossless, AAC/m4a, and Mp3. So the Zune can play songs that were bought on the i Tunes store for example. You would just have to copy the song from i Tunes to a folder on your computer, or Windows Media Player. Now i Pods in turn, cant play Wma files of any kind. A Zune HD will also play back both MP4 video, and WMV video.

      i Pods are geared for the average consumer who looks at having a device with unlimited app support. While audiophiles tend to prefer the Zunes.

      Windows Media Player by the way, will rip Cd's into Wma lossless by the way. (Which the Zune HD does support.)

      Note: i Tunes will convert Wma into AAC that the i Pod will understand, but unfortently it does cause a slight loss in audio fidelity. Audiophiles tend to look down on this process.

      Also, there are multiple lossless audio codecs that do exist. The Zune HD can handle Wma lossless, while the i Pod can handle Apple lossless (ALAC) or also known as Apple lossless audio codec. Now all lossless audio codecs are eaqual to each other in terms of sound quality. The only difference is that some lossless codecs support compression, while others don't. Also some are exclusive to either PC or Mac. (But all are 100% true lossless.)

      Here is a small list of the most popular lossless audio codecs that do exist.
      AIFF, WAV, ALAC, FLAC, and WMA LOSSLESS.

    Sony X Walkman vs. Microsoft Zune HD?
    I'm so over the iPod Touch and can't wait until these two products come out. But I'm only getting one and they both feature extraordinary new cool features. I like Sony's great sound quality(especially compared to iPods) and I like the Zune's new HD radio. Does the Zune have good sound quality? Better than the iPod touch? Which one would you choose? Why?

      They both have really cool features, but I haven't seen anyone review a production model of either player yet. I like that the Sony X series has the built-in noise canceling technology along with a Slacker Radio and youtube app built right in to the interface. They also seem to have the best battery life ratings for their players and the sound quality is always great. I'm not cure what the sound quality is like on the Zune, but the HD radio feature is pretty cool. I don't remember if the Z series has an OLED screen like the Zune or not, but the Zune's screen looks really nice and bright. They also haven't released pricing for the Zune yet, and I'm really curious to know what that will be. The Sony player is priced right along with the iPod Touch I believe. From what I've seen of the two players so far, I would lean toward the Sony X series, but the Zune looks pretty cool as well. I'd have to wait and see pricing and try them both out before I could decide.

    Ipod vs. Iphone - 10 points to best answer?
    I need a new music player, traditional MP3s just aren't doing it for me (both seem to have the same problem of audio not coming out of the right ear piece.. When I turn the headphone jack, I can sometimes get the sound to come back through the right ear piece. It has happened to both my MP3s, I tested multiple headphones. Anyway, I can no longer jog with it when this issue occurs) So I am ready to buy an Ipod or Zune. Due to very similar prices, I am leaning towards an Ipod, mainly because of all the other features it has.

    It just so happens my contract with ATT has ended, so I can pick up an Iphone 8 gig for 50 bucks, which is essentially an Ipod, but larger and is a phone. It seems like the choice is obviously to get the Iphone.

      I would suggest the Iphone, only due to the fact that it serves more than 1 purpose. But I'm in the military and currently in Iraq, I took my Iphone with me and I have had no problems, I run with it out here, take it to the gym and workout and yet it still works. As you know the temp out here ranges from extremely hot to cold and like I said, it still works. I know other Soldiers that crossed over and either bought Iphones once they went on leave just for the music purpose and others that have bought the Ipod's because their previous MP3 player failed to work out here. So once again I would highly suggest the Iphone. Also remember to get a case to protect either your Iphone or Ipod, that way if you do drop it by accident your screen and phone will be protected.

In this competition it took only 10 seconds to hack a mac pro and 2 days to hack windows 7, only after the rules where changed. Where did those mac vs. pc commercials go? They took them down because they were mostly lies. Apple wanted to sue Microsoft for making those "laptop hunter" ads where microsoft claimed that there was no sub 00 apple laptop. But they really said that there was only one laptop and it had a small screen. They accused microsoft of lying since there is a 9 laptop when they did mention this.

    Also Microsoft has better customer support, more computer options, more hardware choices, and much cheaper prices. Do people just assume iPods are better since they are a 'cool' brand? Most iPod and Zune owners clearly state that Zune is better. Do most rich people only use Mac because it is more expensive?

      I have a Zune(the first one so its pretty thick) and the sound quality is 100 times better than the ipod

      yes you can save previously downloaded music to the zune.

      The newer model zunes are as thin as the ipods now so they are not that thick and all. The coating on them allows you to touch all over them without leaving behind fingerprints.

      The only difference between zune and ipod right now is the FM tuner.

      The zune marketplace is okay, I never use it because I stal music from Shareaza.

      the clarity on the Zune screen is very bright and clear and is bigger than the ipods screen so its easier to watch movies.

      the zune battery on the older models do not last as long as the ipods so be wary of that.

      Zunes are cheaper as well.

They took them down because they were mostly lies. Apple wanted to sue Microsoft for making those "laptop hunter" ads where microsoft claimed that there was no sub 00 apple laptop. But they really said that there was only one laptop and it had a small screen. They accused microsoft of lying since there is a 9 laptop when they did mention this.

    Also Microsoft has better customer support, more computer options, more hardware choices, and much cheaper prices. Do people just assume iPods are better since they are a 'cool' brand? Most iPod and Zune owners clearly state that Zune is better. Do most rich people only use Mac because it is more expensive?

    • ANSWER:
      I have the Zune HD (32GB), and believe it to be better in sound then the iPod Touch. I wanted an mp3 player, not a portable game player. The only downside is that the Zune HD has no internet radio application, but I'm hoping that will change.

      I still appreciate Apple and Apple products (I have an old Apple IIe in storage, and an iPod mini), but don't go for something based on hype.
